New Weekly Featured Poem And Prompt 5/13/10
Eszperente - Eh?
Have fun writing an Eszperente poem. It’s is a playful "language", where the only vowel used is "e". A lipogrammatic form, all others vowels are excluded. No made-up words are allowed. *Tip: mostly for children so your imagination can run wild.

“Yesterday’s Sandals” by Jamie is our Featured Poem this week.

Eszperente -Eh?

Peggy Hen's Eleventh Egg

Sweet Peggy Hen needed new eggs. She'd ten eggs she needed eleven, even twelve. She expended energy. She exerted herself endlessly. Her crest grew red. Then her eyes swept her empty nest. 'Hell's bells!' she went. She wended wherever her feet led. They led her to feckless Ned the Newt.
'Help me eject me egg, Ned.' she wept. She felt dejected, deserted, cheerless.

'Eh? See, ye needs pepper ter eject yer egg' he expressed vehemently, 'let's get yer wee legs bent. Let's get yer feet well set' then he yelled 'Jenny Ferret!' (everywhere Ned went Jenny went. She felt bereft when he left). 'Where yer been? Peggy Hen needs pepper.'
'Where's the pepper?' Jenny begged.
'Let's see. The pepper'll be where Mrs. Kettle rests her legs. Tell her we need her help. Pretend ter weep. She'll send yer pepper then.'

The wee ferret went helter-skelter. Fetched the pepper then settled herself. Ned yelled 'Peggy!', she emerged, then Ned threw the pepper everywhere.
The geese sneezed, the sheep sneezed....then Peggy Hen sneezed. The freed egg fell, Peggy Hen cheeped then yelled 'Me sweet eleventh egg!'
Ned the Newt felt cheered then begged 'See here, me wee cheeky peppered hen, let's wed.'

The End

Please excuse me. I obviously can't read! I see that the entry has to be a poem. Ah, well, back to the drawing board (maybe)...me brain is hurting now.
Bye, grannyjill

We'll accept prose too, if you like. Though you should post it as a new thread in the Weekly Prompt board, not as a reply to the announcement. Welcome to Poet Share! Smile
