The Other Side of Words

When we write, we make unconscious choices about the meaning of words. We tend to use the most familiar interpretation of a word without ever thinking about it. This week's prompt is meant to help you find the other side of words. With that in mind, write a poem that:

Uses five of the following words: Shot/Creature/Whistle/Barren/Breeze/Onion/Whisker/Apple
AND

Doesn't use any of the following words: Long/Buck/Wind/Gun/Wild/Tree/Hero/Cool Ground/Is/Are/Fresh/Sour/Land
Remember to have fun and be creative!!

Unfortunately, and as evidenced by the past few months' activities, I do not have the time to properly govern the use of this site anymore. While there are visitors every day, the posts by members are becoming fewer and farther between, and the staff participation is just as sparse.
