I'VE GOT A LITTLE LIST
With apologies to Gilbert and Sullivan’s "Mikado" )

In the year of 2015 , re- election time comes round
So I’ve got a little list - yes I’ve made this little list
Of Parliamentary hopefuls, whose credentials are unsound
And who never would be missed – they never would be missed.

There’s the graduate from Oxford with some vague first class degree
And thinks, for ruling countries - he has some propensity
All wealthy tax evaders who donate to Party coffers
In the hope they’ll get a peerage - and whatever “perks” it offers
But it doesn’t really help us if they’re on the Honours List
For they’d none of ‘em be missed - they’d none of ‘em be missed

I’ve put them in the list, this salutary list
For they never will be missed – I know they won’t be missed.

Then those friends of Party Leaders, who don’t really have a clue
I think I must insist that I put them on the list.
For they’d simply be the sycophantic Front Bench retinue
Just nodding egotists. - I doubt if they be missed.

There are pseudo ethnic sympathisers who have one ambition
To flaunt , or change the national laws and treat them with derision
And those bigots who will still insist EU superiority
Gives them the power to disallow our own legal authority.
So it’s really quite essential that we put them on the list
For they will always twist any laws that still exist.

Anti social activists - ought to be top of the list
They’re just obstructionist - so they never will be missed.

But when they choose their candidates, it’s just as we suspected
These are the very characters that they want to have elected.
So despite those I’ve included –- even those I may have missed
It ‘s just a waste of time - so I’ve become a pragmatist
And accept that my objections are just there to be dismissed .
I've found my Nemesis - So why should I persist?

Now I'm not a pessimist,
But I think you've got the gist
I can't be a nihilist
So- I'm– tearing - up- my- list.

LoL yep something I understood before I was even old enough to vote.. that our personal political views hold little credence when our nations keep electing fools to run our nations...(into the ground)

Absobloodylutely brilliant. I was singing it in my head, remembering good times on stage. So relevant and true, yet still with humor. Exalt

Ooo I wish i knew more how your government works, though i did get plenty of humor from this I expect there's little things that went over my head. Good flow though and it read well aloud.
